A book signing in Utah and a TV appearance!

by HouseInc

Dear Friends…Last week at my book signing in Utah at Dear Lizzie Boutique & Bistro was such fun. Not only was the company great.. the tea and cookies, candy and other sweets were amazing. My new friend Laura, the store owner, along with my good friend Heather Gibb arranged for a great day.

After a 6am flight to Salt Lake (too early for me!) I was whisked away straight to a television appearance on Studio 5 KLS and was interviewed by the lovely Brooke Walker. Check out the video of my TV interview here.

From there I was on to a fun filled day complete with a tea party and evening celebration full of questions about design and meeting new friends. Please check out Dear Lizzie’s store on line. It has the perfect mix of fashion, home and food. It’s the perfect combination for everyone!

Thank you again ladies for hosting such a wonderful day!

Rain or snow, my friends in Denver were a sunny stop on my book tour…

by HouseInc

Last Thursday I left sunny LA and headed to snowy Denver for a book signing with my friends Debbie, Heather and Loree. I met these three amazing women at my store in Santa Monica and I am now lucky enough to call them friends. They have been to LA to visit me and it was fun to finally visit them and meet their family and friends.

Debbie opened her home Thursday night for a fantastic party complete with very unique vendors. These vendors  included Leslie Lewis from Leslie Lewis Designs and Holly Kuhn from Old Glory Antiques – a store in Denver that also hosts The Old Glory County Fair which I will be traveling back for in June.

I can not tell you enough how warm and loving all these gals are. One of the show-stopping attractions of the night was the desserts that matched the turquoise and white theme from the cover of the book. Tosha Mack provided the food, she is available for catering parties, weddings, etc. If you want her info, please leave a comment and I will provide it. Thank you Tosha!

They not only put on a fantastic party but even organized a question and answer time for all to enjoy. I had yet to do a Q & A about the book and it was a really fun twist to the book signing. It gave all of us a chance to connect and share our design ideas and inspirations.

A huge thank you to Heather Gibb who took such beautiful photographs! She also shot all the images of the children in my Little House and Annette Tatum catalogs. You can visit her blog for more images from the book signing. Thank you to all for a truly memorable trip. I can’t wait to come back in June!

I heart…

by HouseInc

Just a quick note on the day of love. Several years ago I decided to take the pressure off what Valentines Day was supposed to look like and made it a family affair. Every year we have family dinner complete with all the roses, candy and hearts. A home cooked meal and lots of pink and red make for an easy dinner made with love.

Just in time for Father’s day we were the “family” that has a special pancake breakfast on dad’s day. My husband even came home from work to jump in a shot or two while flipping pancakes. The afternoon went fast and the kids were glad to get to come home early from school to participate. PJ’s and pancakes in the afternoon…FUN!

I never seem to have enough reasons to use all of my china, Jacqueline dug out some of my old favorites to use.

Making the perfect pancake, we found this pancake ring/mold that helped us shape ‘perfect’ round pancakes at Sur La Table in Santa Monica.

Pink and Blue were the color themes!

Lots of fun toppings for the pancakes…chocolates, berries, peanut butter (my kids favorite) and much more!

Kids and my friend and photographer Bret Gum, everyone had fun in the kitchen.

The best part was the end…when we ate all the props!

Thanks Jacqueline for a fun day…look for the upcoming issue of the new YUM magazine this June. Great ideas and recipes for food and fun!

Recap on Blue Springs Book Signing

by HouseInc

The Well Dressed Home Blog, Annette Tatum, Book Signing at Blue Springs Home

Once again we had another successful book signing at one of my favorite stores Blue Springs Home in Costa Mesa, California. The store owner Susan Ellison has been a long time friend of mine and a supporter of my collections. She has carried our bedding lines for the past 10 years and her store is simply the best in the Orange County area. She has a unique array of products including great gifts and art. Visit her blog to find out more about her and her store.

The Well Dressed Home Visits San Francisco!

by HouseInc

The Well Dressed Home, Annette Tatum, 7x7 Magazine, Union by Palisades

One thing I LOVE about the flats of San Francisco is that you are asked to build innovative architecture and living spaces with in the confines of a small space. Although the city is 7×7 miles, there are so many districts to explore that it could take 7 years to discover them all. I happened to be there last week for a special event showcasing the new Union-SF residences in the heart of the Mission District. The units were incredible, and just like the city, each one invited guests to experience a unique home décor design. My Mannequin Exhibition followed me to the event and to my delight, they were the delicious icing to the many layers of Union-SF. Walking through the residences was like walking through the style guide in The Well Dressed Home and seeing it come to life.

THE COUTURE RESIDENCE was reminiscent of a city girls flat in Pacific Heights, preferably close to the most fabulous boutiques and patisseries.

THE CLASSIC RESIDENCE might be found in Nob Hill where its occupant was always in walking distance of an old style café or perfectly manicured gardens.

THE ECO RESIDENCE would be nestled into Portrero Hill and most definitely furnished with a green, yet hip state of mind.

If you are interested in any of the residences shown above, visit Union-SF website for more information regarding their brand new residential community located where two of San Francisco’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Mission and Potrero meet. Of course, the mannequins are not included…but it would make for a great DIY project!

Thanks again to 7×7 San Francisco Magazine for hosting such a unique event!

Photos don’t do them ANY justice! For now I will have to leave you all with a small sneak peak.

Guest Blogger: Interview with Brooke Giannetti from Velvet&Linen

by HouseInc

Velvet and Linen, brooke

On Friday I had the pleasure of meeting Los Angeles based interior designer, Brooke Giannetti. I first came across her fabulous blog Velvet & Linen awhile back and was instantly intrigued. We hit it off right away, how could we not as we share the same passion for interior design and are both professionals and full time moms. It was such a treat to sit with her and discuss our personal journeys into the design world and our creative process. You can visit her blog and read more about our meeting here!
