Work: Minnie Driver Nursery.

by HouseInc

Last year my friend Minnie Driver asked me to please help her get ready for her son Henry’s arrival… I was happy to play “auntie.”

Minnie has a house in town and one at the beach and they both are very different in style and feeling. One more classic and casual and the other house more bohemian meets eclectic.

In my design style guide, Minnie’s beach house falls under a mix of Casual and Classic. Picture a small bungalow on the beach with magnificent views and you will know how special summer time naps can be at the beach. Such is the nursery I did for Minnie’s Malibu Home. White washed furniture from Newport Cottages and soft pastel prints from Oopsy Daisy. Ella the Elephant, which can be purchased HERE is one of my favorite series.

The bedding she chose was our now retired Versailles Celedon and Marseilles stripe Khaki and Minnie added vintage chinese seahorse kites which serve as a playful mobile for diapering amusement. The room was fresh and ready for little sandy feet!

I would describe Minnie’s house in town as where fashionable Bohemian meets Eclectic.

We choose a combination of color and bold textiles to create a caravan on the go. Bright turquoise walls accented with recycled tin letters, an emerald green crib with magenta accents. All one of a kind gathered while traveling the road to motherhood. Etsy is a wonderful website filled with musings like these.

You can view some of the rooms I chose to represent ‘classic meets casual’ and ‘bohemian meets eclectic’ in my new book The Well Dressed Home, which you can purchase HERE!

Work: Marcia Cross Nursery.

by HouseInc

Celebrity babies always seem to make the top of the fashion lists and I am often asked to share some of my more well known design projects. One of my favorite nurseries was the one I did with my neighbor Marcia Cross. She was on bed rest with twin girls Eden and Savannah so the design process was great. She knew she wanted a traditional look with hints of modern. In my new book The Well Dressed Home (buy your signed copy here) I would style her as classic modern.

The wall color was a special mix of pink and lilac that gave off a fresh and feminine look to the room, more lilac than pink. Crib bedding was from my Maidens Bouquet Collection Lilac and Blush were both used along with Cottage Stripe Lilac and Pink and Eloise Blush.

I used canopies over the cribs to create a cocoon like feeling since the babies were so tiny at first and it was double everything from gliders, rockers and changing tables with delicate butterfly mobiles.Window treatments were done with fun Cottage stripe lilac valances, pom pom trim and roman shades to block out the light. We also added custom cubbies from our Maidens Collection custom size for all the toys and goodies.

All in all it was a great experience, and Marcia was so pleased she said, “It is the best room in our house!”
